Excellent basic wired cyclocomputer March 15, 2007 Bernard Morey (Bulleen, Vic. Australia) 40 out of 42 found this review helpful
The BC906 replaced three cheapy Chinese-made cyclocomputers. Two lasted a year and the most recent I gave up on after 3 weeks. I then decided to buy a quality wired cyclocomputer - and the BC906 fitted the bill. I chose wired because I found wireless was affected by my flashing LED headlamp - the flashes were interpreted as speed when the two were adjacent.
I'm very pleased with the BC906 - it's accurate, easy to fit (no tools required), and highly legible. It's easy to set-up although the pictogram-based instruction book is not particularly easy to follow and could be better.
It doesn't have a backlight or ambient temperature - nice-to-have but not essential features. I chose it over a similarly featured and priced Cateye because the BC906 had a larger, clearer display.
Highly recommended.
Does it's job August 16, 2008 T. Figueroa (St. Joe, MI USA) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I've put a few miles on this and it has been accurate and wasn't really too hard to assemble. Yes, you do have to keep the book in case you change your wheels or your tires and have to reprogram the sizes to get accurate readings, but this really isn't hard nor something surprising. I really like being able to see the average speeds along with how long it took me to go x miles. A good solid product. I even dropped it once with no damage.
Great product for the recreational biker June 11, 2007 David A. Nelson 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
This is a great addition to anyone that want to keep track of how far and how long they bike. It is easy to install, and since I have installed it has required no adjustments. This unit keeps track of what you want to know. It is also very easy to check while riding.
Good cyclocomputer for recreational riders May 1, 2010 smith847be (Hanover, NH USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
First, since nothing on this page seems to actually list it, these are the "9 functions":
- Total distance (odometer)
- Total time
- Trip distance
- Trip time
- Average speed
- Maximum speed
- Clock
- Current speed
- Comparison of average and current speed
If you're comparing this with the BC1106 11-function computer and getting confused, the two extra "functions" are total distance and total time for a second bike. The BC1606 adds sectional trip distances, a backlight, and cadence measurements. See this page for comparing the rest: http://www.sigmasport.com/en/produkte/bikecomputer/vergleichstabelle/
Overall, it does what it's supposed to and does it well. The numbers are big enough so that they're easy to read on a quick downward glance, and the adjustable-contrast LCD display remains readable in a variety of lighting conditions. There are three buttons, which actually makes the computer more intuitive. Upper left is "Set", upper right is "Reset", and the entire bottom of the device is "Mode". You should only ever need to use the big "Mode" button while riding.
P.S. Note to other reviewers: all bike computers are "difficult to install". That's why you only have to install them once. Like all other cyclocomputers, you'll spend at least 20 minutes trying to loop the wire just right, figure out how each piece actually attaches together, and setting up the computer for your wheel size.
Excellent after purchase support December 6, 2008 Larry Loughridge 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The speedometer was very easy to install and set up. I did have a problem getting the remote sensor magnet to communicate with the computer so I called the toll free support phone number. I talked to Bryan who helped me figure out what the problem was and how to correct it. Problem solved and the speedometer is working great. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a bike speedometer
